Chairman’s Message

Mr. Ashok Chaturvedi

Chairman and Managing Director, Uflex Ltd.

India has the largest population of youth in the world and majority of our population are in the youth category below the age of 35 years. Given this, there lies a huge potential of becoming a healthy, strong and egalitarian society. However this opportunity comes with the onerous responsibility on the part of both state and civil society, to nurture and harness the energy and potential of the youth of this country.

Undeniably, sports alongside education constitute an integral  part of youth development and underline paradigm for social and economic growth of the country. Involvement of youth, particularly from low-income communities, in sports, helps them to build strong character, impact their ability to survive and transcend difficult situations.

Apart from being a meaningful leisure and physical activity, sports also has an educative character which improves the social cohesion of underprivileged youth. It increases their self-awareness and self-esteem. Through participation in sports, youth in low-income communities have access to consistent support and encouragement which improves their confidence and self-motivation.Sports help them climb the social-economical ladder that brings greater social acceptance and appreciation and offers them a platform to showcase their talent and competence. It stimulates social interactions and improves social learning processes in society while reducing the involvement and exposure to violence and unethical activities.  All this transcend into benefits for the nation as a whole.

Recognizing the importance of play in the process of child development, it has been recognized by the UN High Commission for Human Rights as a right of every child. In our country, opportunities for children to play freely are hampered through economic inequalities and less importance given to sports as a part of the academic curriculum.

Uflex Khelo Dilli is an endeavor to make all possible efforts at grass root level to induce the habit of playing especially among the underprivileged children & youth of India. It is aimed at mobilizing the movement of play among today’s youth in such a manner where every child gets to play thus the youth of India become strong making India a strong nation. Uflex Khelo Dilli targets the needs of low-income youth and provide sports facilities, coaching, counseling and attention they might not receive in their homes, schools or communities.

We are pleased to be associated with Stairs towards the noble cause of helping underprivileged children in achieving their dreams through the medium of sports. These children have a lot of potential and latent energy that needs to be tapped and through Uflex Khelo Dilli, we hope to channelize this energy in the right direction. Our association with Stairs represents an extension of our social commitment to bring about a positive change in the life of underprivileged sections of the society by carrying out such programmes in sports, education and health.
