4 Players of Uflex Khelo Dilli Program win medals at the concluded King’s Cup Sepak Takraw World Championship, Thailand India win Bronze medal in 29th King’s Cup Sepak Takraw World Championship, Thailand

 India has won the Bronze medal in the recently concluded 29th King’s Cup Sepak Takraw World Championship, Thailand. Four young and talented Sepak Takraw players, registered with the Uflex Khelo Dilli program, were a part of the Indian Team for the World Championship, which began on 4th August 2014, and concluded in Bangkok, Thailand on the 12th of August.

The four players- Sandeep Kumar, Lalit Kumar, Sandeep Raghav and Dheeraj Kumar are international Sepak Takraw players who have previously won many laurels in the International Sepak Takraw championships. In the King’s Cup Sandeep Kumar has been awarded two Bronze medals for Hoop Takraw event and Team event, whereas, the other 3 players have been awarded Bronze medal each for Team Event. The four Stairs prodigies have also been selected for the second and final camp of the game in the Asian Games 2014.

The King’s Cup Sepak Takraw World Championship is a prestigious and longstanding competition in the international Sepak Takraw circuit. It is organized by the Takraw Association of Thailand in conjunction with the International Sepak Takraw Federation. The King’s Cup is dedicated to the King of Thailand.

Uflex Khelo Dilli is a joint philanthropic endeavor of Uflex Ltd., India’s largest flexible packaging company and Stairs. It was conceptualized in 2011 with the aim of providing free space, infrastructure and sports equipment to the less fortunate children. Out of the more than 1, 50,000 youngsters playing at Stairs centers across the country, 15,000 are actively playing at the 29 Delhi centers alone.

Some of the students who identified by Stairs are already doing well at the national level and are earning laurels for their states. Stairs also organizes sports camps at regular intervals to promote youth talent.
